The area that I cover includes the Twin Cities Metro Area of Minnesota. If you need a doula outside of this area, I may be able to make an exception or assist you in finding a doula who does cover your area.
As your doula, I will provide you with a variety of services.
I will be on call for you 24/7 for four weeks surrounding your due date.
I will be with you from the time you decide you need me in early labor until your child is born and you are settled.
I will attend you wherever you choose to birth your child. I will come to your home and stay until you are settled after the birth or follow you to a birth center or hospital of your choice.
I will meet with you a number of times before the birth of your child. The exact number we'll meet will be determined by when you hire me, and when your child is born. Typically, I will visit you 3 times before your birth, and two times after. I will be available to you via phone or email for questions between meetings. I can also attend a prenatal visit with your caregiver.
I will help you create your birth plan. We will collaborate to most effectively express your wishes to your care providers. We will also be able to do contingency planning for unexpected circumstances so you can feel more at ease.
I will help you be as comfortable as possible during your labor. I know a variety of comfort measures including but not limited to philosophies such as Hypno-Birthing and Bradley, and relaxation techniques that I will be able to teach you. I can guide you through meditation exercises and help you focus on what's important - safely bringing your child into this world!
I will help you get breastfeeding established and off to a great start if you choose.
I will meet with you twice after the birth of your child. This is to answer any questions and concerns you may have about post-partum recovery.
- I will be on call for you regarding breastfeeding questions for a few weeks after the baby is born.
My rates are reasonable and negotiable. I am more than happy to work out payment plans ahead of time. I do volunteer for moms who are in need, and your payment enables me to continue this important service. Typically, I charge between $500.00 and $700.00 for everything.
Part of DONA's philosophy is that every woman who wants a doula should have one. I fully support this, and will help you as much as I am able.
Please know that a doula is not a substitute for a midwife or any other medical care.
I will not perform medical procedures. I will facilitate and encourage communication with care givers. I can help you obtain information, explore options, and find alternate choices. I can help you evaluate your risks and benefits. I can help you understand what is happening, what could happen next, and what did happen.
I support your decisions, but I cannot make them for you.
