Partners, Dads, and Other people who'll support Mom during her labor and birth:
Please know that I am there to support you too! Doula comes from the Greek word doulos which means female servant. I am there to serve mom, but also to serve you - inlaws, friends, sisters, brothers, grandparents to be, everyone who might need a reassuring smile.
I see myself as a member of the team assembled especially to help birth go as smoothly as possible. I want you to know that I am your doula just as much as I am mom's doula. My role includes releiving any tension and taking pressure off anyone who is involved with supporting mom. Having a doula means that you do not have to shoulder all the weight by yourself! With my help, you'll be able to breathe, relax, and immerse yourself in this amazing event that will be a huge part of your life!
My level of involvement is entirely up to you. I will respect and support the decisions you make together. I will be happy to teach you what I can to support mom in her time of need. Please know that I will be happy to work with you to overcome any concerns that you may have: fears, allergies, or medical concerns that you worry may prevent you from being supportive. I'll be there to remind you to take care of yourself too.
Most importantly, I recognize that this is the birth of your child too!
